Equestrian reborn with a reconstructed skull

Sophie was a young active adult that enjoys activities and sports. She was particularly fond of riding a horse. For Isabel was a miracle of reconstructive surgery to return to the previous activities. She had a serious accident and she broke her head in three different areas and there was too much pressure inside the head, so they removed the part of the damaged bone.

The reconstruction of an incomplete cranium is known as cranioplasty and it is a common procedure following surgical interventions for severe head trauma, decompressive craniectomy or the removal of an osteoma.

In Sophie‘s case the material used to rebuild her skull was a biomimetic one, that mimics the structural and chemical properties of natural tissue. It does the job so well, it’s virtually indistinguishable from real bone.

Sophie was happy of the skull result and she started looking to the future again.

Thanks to the unique bioactive bone implant, she lives life to the full and skull looks and acts like the one she was born with.
