A biomaterial is any substance, natural or artificial, that has been engineered to treat, repair or replace any tissue, organ or function of the body.
Being similar from a chemical and structural point of view to the human tissues, these materials are able to integrate with the body's structures.
In particular, some of these have the peculiar feature of being able to be resorbed, while favouring the regeneration of physiological tissues.
